Reliance Jio GigaFiber service will be provided to 1,100 cities
Reliance Jio, which got a massive welcome in the industry of telecommunication, announced its new fiber service as Jio GigaFiber through its fixed-line broadband set up. This announcement was made by the owner and chairman of the company, Mukesh Ambani, on the 41st Annual General Meeting of Reliance Industries.
According to the announcement, the GigaFiber service will be provided to 1,100 cities in the country. Under the service, Jio GigaFiber service will be providing GigaFiber router and GigaFiber set-top box. Upon getting the GigaFiber service installation complete, the users will be able to make voice calls, video calls, and give voice commands to any mobile connections or GigaTV device across the country.
Mukesh Ambani, the brain behind the Reliance Jio, has stated that GigaFiber service will be providing voice-activated service (voice commands), high definition entertainment-enabled TV, digital shopping, and virtual reality gaming. Further, smart-home services are also promised through GigaFiber.
Reliance Jio GigaFiber: Registration
The registration for Jio GigaFiber commences from 15th of August 2018, and users can register for the service through Jio-dedicated app ‘MyJio’ and Jio’s website ‘Jio.com’. Through the home network, Reliance brings the home the Internet services with the help of this newly launched Jio GigaFiber. The service is given preferably to those cities that show more interest in getting the GigaFiber first. Right now, GigaFiber is testing with its beta version in many houses across the country.
Reliance Jio Giga TV:
This service gives the user the privilege of Jio GigaTV, which is a set-top box facility that equips GigaFiber and offers FTTH (fiber-to-the-home) service. The GigaTV that comes with the GigaFiber service provides a smart remote that will be supporting the voice commands and voice calling in the new-edge technology enabled Jio set-top box. Also, the service can be extended to offer video calling facility by adding an additional camera to the device.
This new-age TV service will let the user navigate the channels of the JioTV programming through voice commands, as in the JioPhone. The FTTH service installation is done at a free of cost by the company professionals. However, the company charges a security deposit for the services that are to be rendered. The tariff details and the initial cost of the service are not yet revealed by the company. It is expected that the company will be revealing the details close to the month of August, during the beginning of the registration (August 15).
JioPhone 2: Price in India, features, and specifications
The company has informed that Reliance JioPhone 2 is getting a new look now, with a 2.4-inch QVGA display that comes with 320×240 pixels. The new phone also comes packed with a QWERTY-keypad. It features 512MB RAM and 4GB internal storage (expandable up to 128GB via a microSD card slot). The dual-SIM handset supports VoLTE and VoWiFi. It has a battery of 2,000mAh.
Reliance JioPhone 2 will be available from August 15 at an introductory price of Rs 2,999.
Reliance has unveiled its JioGigaFiber fiber-to-the-home (FTTH) broadband service. Presently, the service is being beta tested at multiple locations of the country.
Users can register their interest in JioGigaFiber from August 15. Reliance Jio will prioritise the roll out based on the number of interests that it gets from various localities.
JioGigaFiber will come with its own router – JioGigaRouter, and along with that users will be able to get the bundled Jio GigaTV, in the form of the 4K-enabled media streaming box.
